We are living in desperate times facing a global recession triggered by the all-consuming greed of bankers, financial and investment executives and realtors of USA, building financial castles in the air that collapsed like a worthless pack of cards wiping out trillions of dollars, jobs, well-known companies and economies of renowned countries. We are facing a situation than the Depression of 1929. A great institution like General Motors, No. I on Fortune 500 for so many years and known for its sound management is facing bankruptcy. Iceland has gone bankrupt. America has lost face and management has lost face. Industry has gone bankrupt. Out here in Bengaluru in India, once booming real estate and construction industries have come to a halt. The hotel industry, once prosperous, charging highest rates for their rooms higher than New York, London, Stockholm, Geneva, is facing the heat. Companies have told their executives, no parties no conferences, no lunch and dinner in hotels. Companies have proscribed air travel. Air India, Jet Airways, Kingfisher have to cancel their flights, lay-off the pilots and staff. The latter two had just started international operations and the recession has hit them very badly. Jet Airways carried, the story goes, one passenger to London and brought 20 How can you keep up the international operations? Bad timing, unfortunately for them.

The resulting consequence is that people have lost confidence in Management and are livid that greed had good séance and sound management. The humanity is at the cross-roads, as we face the 21st Century and the second Millennium. The people of the world and the leaders in global business and management face the daunting challenge ahead of them in improving human condition, rebuilding collapsed confidence in global business, economies and management and creating jobs and wealth and growth for the society as quickly as possible.

In order to achieve this, we need a new concept of global management, a new approach and philosophy of management and new model of management to promote global economic growth, global human growth and global business growth with a mission of service to the community, nation and the world. In short, building a new world order of prosperity, happiness, peace and compassion.

Hence, the birth of our new book. We call it 'Dynamic Global Management'. Dynamic because the management must be extremely fast in not only reacting to overcome the desperate and changing times, hut also be creative and innovative be proactive in creating desirable and successful outcomes fast in the future; global because we are in a globalised world where the impact is global and everybody is going global; management, with a new mission of service, creation for wealth for society, utilize the new philosophy, systems and techniques of management to build a better world of peace, prosperity, Happiness and compassion and to get out of the global recession in a year or two at the most.

We have designed and structured our book in four parts, each dealing with certain core areas of Dynamic Global Management.

A. Core Areas: The first part deals with core area of fundamentals — (1) What is the purpose of business? The mission : of business is to provide goods and services in abundance, thus creating jobs and wealth for the nation and world. (2) Glimpes of global business and management, best practices of global management through such leaders as Wal-Mart, GE, Shell, IBM, Tatas, etc., as-well as managing global business, which are so large in size, sophistication and complexity sharing global fortune top 10 companies in sales, assets, employment, etc., (3) Global management philosophies and strategies and the traits of global business.

B. Philosophy of Global Management: Dealing with theory of philosophy of global management and practice of philosophy of global companies like General Motors, Exxon Mobil, Matsushita and Shell.

C. Strategy of Global Management: This chapter deals with theory and definition of strategy, strategic management, business strategy, seven- S Model, Vigin case of strategy implementation and everyday low prices at Wal-Mart.
