In recent years, the role of research in various fields of management related to economics, commerce, business, industry, trade or the economy as a whole, has greatly increased. The complex nature of business and economy has shifted our attention on the use of research in solving the existing problems. One of the obstacles in the way of self knowledge and desirable change is the separation between knowing and doing. The need of the hour is for greater interaction between societies, industries and organizations with universities or institutions.
As the world of business and economy are changing drastically and speedily, one cannot wait for changes at the institutional level. Keeping in mind all these aspects, the present book entitled "Research Methodology" aims at a lucid exposition of various fundamental concepts and techniques of research that would be useful, particularly to the Indian students and practitioners.
This book is aimed primarily at academic researchers, management and doctoral students, teachers and graduate students of mathematics, management science and various other science and social science disciplines, practicing managers and marketing research professionals. The objective is to make the reader understand how they can use various statistical techniques for their research problems. The book covers the theoretical and practical aspects of research methodology, text and cases and the use of SPSS in a clear and exhaustive manner. Every chapter in this book explains the principles through appropriate descriptive and analytical explanations, for scientific method or research.
This book "Research Methodology for Management" comprises 15 chapters. Chapter 1 presents the introduction of Research Methodology. Chapter 2, 3 and 4 gives the details of research process, problem and design. Chapter 5 presents the concept of sample and sampling design, which is more important for data collection and research. Chapter 6 presents the measurement scaling techniques, required for preparing the questionnaires in sequential order. Chapter 7, 8 and 9 describes the various methods of collecting, editing and tabulation of data for analysis. Chapter 10 and 11 describes several statistical techniques like hypothesis testing, chi-square, ANOVA, etc. Chapter 12 explains the techniques of multivariate analysis. Chapter 13 and 14 presents the use of SPSS in calculating descriptive statistics and presenting a visual display of the data. Finally, Chapter 15 describes, how to prepare, present and write the report as well as the summer project.
