The available textbooks in surgical gastroenterology are not comprehensive, do not adequately discuss some of the diseases which are specifically relevant in the Asian context and do not have Indian protocols for therapy and follow-up even for diseases which are commonly seen by us. I, therefore, worked to compile a book, which could serve as a textbook for the students of surgical gastroenterology and could also be of help to the practicing surgeons and the gastroenterologists.
